NOVOD Board:
The National
Oilseeds and Vegetable Oils Development (NOVOD) Board, a statutory body,
constituted on 8th March,
1984 under the
National Oilseeds and Vegetable Oils Development
Board Act, 1983 (No. 29 of 1983), for the Integrated
Development of Oilseeds and Vegetable Oils Industry in the country. The
Board is under the administrative control of Department of Agriculture
and Cooperation of Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. The
Board has its headquarters at Gurgaon, Haryana.
Programmes of NOVOD Board:
The Board is implementing various programmes for 'Integrated Development
of Tree Borne Oilseeds (TBOs)' in the entire country for exploring the
existing potential and augmenting the future potential. The Board has
been entrusted with the exclusive responsibility of promoting important
TBOs of commercial value in the country since Tenth Plan (2002-07).
The country has enormous potential of TBOs like sal, mahua, neem,
simarouba, karanja, Jatropha, jojoba, cheura, wild apricot, walnut and
tung etc. These are grown in different agro-climatic conditions
having different ecological requirements in a scattered form in forest
and non-forest areas as well as in waste-land/desert/hilly areas.
Keeping in view of above,
the Board is implementing various programmes for ‘Integrated Development
of TBOs’ in the entire country for exploring the existing potential and
augmenting the future potential.
